Once Saved Then What

Over the years, I have learned that the “then what?” has no such thing as a simple single answer. The “then what” is the beginning to your new life. However, this is where some of the most misunderstandings happened for me.

For years as believers, we listen, read, and study God's Word. We can get to a point of confusion if we are not careful with so much information available. We can allow ourselves to ease into information overload. The author was in search to break it down a little and see if there was a general conclusion to the question: "Once you are saved, what comes next? Because there are so many dos, don'ts, have-tos, and the list goes on and on." So the book breaks it all down into sections, hoping to help others who may have been or is in a situation of religious information overload. This book defines the process of spiritual growth.

And Then What Happened? reviews the career of Harold R. Harris that for a remarkable near-eighty years involved every aspect of aviation. An engineer, he was notable for his fearless innovations, from night flying and airport lighting to test piloting to techniques for overseeing the redesign of aircraft for cotton dusting or the transport of large heavy machinery. Harris was unique in his ability to transition between the worlds of the military (in both World Wars) and commercial aviation. A practical man, he excelled at hands-on operations. A good deal has been written about his early exploits, including the famous emergency parachute jump. Until now, however, little has been written about his administrative ability, his concern for the safety of both passengers and crew or his talent – through hard work and dogged persistence – at achieving the realization of a dream. Regarding Harris’ personal exploits, Justin H. Libby, known for publishing a series of articles covering the exploits of early aviators, observed “. . .how many [people [besides Harold Harris] have ever had 26 flying records. . .as well as being inducted into probably the two most prestigious air societies: the American Institute of Astronautics and Aeronautics and the Society of Experimental Test Pilots?” In the larger picture, this book is a tribute to the contribution made by one man, Harold Ross Harris, to the amazing history of powered flight in the U.S, and throughout the world.

What an incredible book this is! Within its pages the author somehow manages to combine self-help, inner healing, be motivational, and inspirational. What’s more this book is suitable for all ages, genres, and professions, something I find unique. Through the sharing of personal experiences with her reader, and the incorporation of a fictitious story about a cat called Delilah, her surroundings, and life, the reader is encouraged to open their eyes to their world, look forward with a positive attitude, and embark on a journey of self-discovery. From the moment we are ‘aware’ we absorb the information around us via other people. We learn, to discover things about our world and environment, listen to the expectations and limitations others put on us. Now, through this enlightening book we each have the tools we need to unlock our dreams, reach our full potential, and then grow, taking one day at a time to discover the real us. We learn how to unburdening ourselves of the concepts and restraints of others, and truly become who we want to be. From a very early age the author knew she had a strong affinity with the spirit world and animals. Her work has enabled her to recognise these gifts and her strength of character has led her to write her books. In fact her first published novel, How I Became a Dragon was inspired by her experiences whilst working in the Republic of Congo as Project Director for the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) in the Sangha Tri-National landscape. However, as she points out, if you are searching for God and enlightenment, it is not hidden in these pages. The purpose of this book is to, through telling her story, and talking about poignant moments in her life, which have opened her eyes to her true self, she hopes to inspire her readers to do the same. To aid in this, the book’s chapters focus on life experiences and at the end of each there is the opportunity for the reader to express their thoughts and experiences on each topic on the activity pages. These pages eventually combined to reveal their own unique journey. However, the author is keen to point out, our journey does not end there, because life is a continual adventure and the quest to discover new things about ourselves is constantly evolving each and every day. In Conclusion: This book contains the key to opening your own mind into the possibilities which await you. Within, the author gives her reader the tools they require to move forward positively, with true self-belief, and the knowledge that they are 100% in control. —Susan Keef

Most people in our country become fascinated by stories reported by favorite newscasters – Walter Cronkite and Ed Murrow being two prime examples that had wide audiences who accepted their comments and reported their news and views as gospel. Chicago, on the other hand, began a love affair with a street reporter named Studs Terkel (1912-2008), whose 45-year career of recording interviews with a wide spectrum of street people and common folk who were asked for their views on what they liked, hated, living circumstances, and an abundance of topics that they tolerated but despised, racial views being a prime topic of comments. The people Terkel sought out were the homeless, streetwalkers, prostitutes, cops, firemen, celebrities, doctors, teachers, businessmen, and a full spectrum of people in the building trades. Usually those he chose to interview were more than pleased to be asked for their comments, and would pour out stories that made Terkel’s hour-long radio broadcasts on Chicago’s WFMT’s a fascinating listening experience. As if the person being interviewed hadn’t bared enough of his/her soul to the reporter, Terkel would wait until their story was finished before then asking them “and then what happened?” The shock of this quest invariably resulted with additional startling stories coming out of the mouths of the victims Studs had chosen to interview. In fact, these comments asked the people he interviewed after the first part of the story they rendered revealed secrets and things that the person had never mentioned to anybody. They were like icing added to a cake, and turned out to be the fascination that brought the reporter abundant listeners, as well as rendering Studs Terkel just about every book award and citation ever given to a single person in the United States. Studs Terkel interviews gained him the top echelon of reporters during the 45 years that his radio and then television shows were in demand by Chigagoans from 1952-1997. His variety of stories was the catalyst that prompted Victor Kelley to publish his own version of events that fascinated readers of his eight books.

"The End of the World - Then What?" gives information about the world before - the paradise lost, the present world - the world of terror, and the next world to come - the World of Love and Peace Jesus of Nazareth announced. Further information is provided about the contributors to this book and about the one who is making the change of worlds possible, God the Almighty. Three major religions of this world, Christianity, Islam and Zoroastranism worship the same God. This book explains who this God is, where He comes from, who His parents are and how He acquired spiritual might over all. Many references are made to God the Almighty and His work. Most remarkable, however, are the contributions to this book signed "God the Almighty". Larry King is the most successful talk show host in this world. Because of spiritual mechanisms whenever his guests make spiritually relevant statements these have to be corrected or commented on. Some of these comments are signed "God the Almighty" and touch very important topics: nature's upheaval at the end of the world, judgment day, damnation, salvation, and resurrection. Most importantly, He explains the New World to come.

Books Are Not Life, But Then What Is? demonstrates how much Marvin Mudrick loved life and celebrated the dignity of life in literature. “It’s helpful to be reminded now and then,” he writes, that “while novelists persist in their noisy betrayals of human dignity, living has a longer history than reading, and truth than fiction.” Mudrick insists on seeing authors and their characters as people and he describes and judges them as frankly as if they were living among us. In this collection, we meet heroes, monsters, and every shade of character in between: Chaucer, Pepys, Rochester, Boswell, Jane Austen (and Anne Elliot), Dickens (and Pecksniff), Pushkin, Tolstoy, Kafka, Edmund Wilson, and many other novelists, scholars, and critics. We get to know each of them, so vivid are Mudrick’s quotations and commentary. Essay after essay demonstrates that good criticism can amplify both life and literature.
