Artists around the world are fascinated by the Porsche brand. Inspired by the aura of the models from Zuffenhausen, they create works of art that achieve five- and six-figure prices at auctions. The Porsche 911, as the icon of the brand, is often at the centre of the works. For the most part, the artists approach the object and its forms in a classical way, in oil or acrylic. Increasingly though, these artists are also designing contemporary digital art. The artists hail from all over the world - from urban and multi-cultural New York to the Scottish highlands, and the North German Plain. What all the artists have in common is that they use the charisma of the Porsche lines and curves to put it into a new context. Curated by the renowned painter and performance artist Uli Hack, the book shows a kaleidoscope of contemporary Porsche art. SELLING POINTS: * The first 'Porsche Art' book * Includes approximately 24 artists from around the world, such as Marcello Petisci, Wolf Gast, Nicolas Hunziker, Alina Knott, Uli Hack, Stephane Dufour, Tony Crampton, Dexter Brown, Yahn Janou and many more * Compiled by the well-known painter of the Formula 1 posters, Uli Hack * Opulent pictures in an impressive format 205 colour images

Erich Strenger (1922-1993), an author, photographer, designer, and illustrator, left his mark on the look of Porsche during the company's formative years in the early '50s and '60s with a design language that, for the most part, continues to bear his signature to this day. He also created countless print products for this successful sports car maker, including Christophorus Zeitschrift fur die Freunde des Hauses Porsche, the brainchild of Erich Strenger and Richard von Frankenberg. Over the course of a collaborative relationship with Porsche spanning more than thirty years, the graphic artist, who started out working alone, founded an advertising agency in the heart of Stuttgart with a staff of up to eleven permanent employees. There, Strenger would later create countless racing posters, much like those he had designed in his early days working for Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG as a freelancer in the early '50s. Strenger was instrumental in influencing and molding the image of the Porsche brand as we know it today. This book showcases a first-ever comprehensive collection of his work, created over the course of his collaboration with Porsche between 1951 and 1988. This monographic and monothematic publication brings the noteworthy highlights of his work to the forefront, focusing attention on the designer's approaches and methods. DIVIn Porsche 911: 50 Years, bestselling author Randy Leffingwell celebrates a half-century of one of the world’s premiere sports cars, focusing on the major themes that have defined Porsche's rear-engined wonder. He tells the whole story—design and development, racing and competition, engineering and technology, style and culture. All the iconic 911 models are included: the original 901 prototype that set the standard; the legendary RS models that made the little Porsche a dominant force on the world’s racetracks; the infamous Turbo, the car that kept the performance flame alight during the dark, dismal decade of the 1970s; the fabled 959, the model that redefined the term “sports car; the 993, last of the original air-cooled models; and the 996, 997, and 991, the liquid-cooled cars that brought the 911 into a new millennium. But beyond telling the story of the cars, this book also spotlights the people behind them: Ferdinand “Butzi Porsche, the son of legendary Porsche founder Ferdinand “Ferry Porsche, who co-designed the instantly recognizable 911 shape; Peter W. Schutz, the Porsche CEO who saved the 911 from extinction; and Dr. Helmuth Bott, the engineering genius behind many of the groundbreaking technologies that have defined the 911, including fuel injection, turbocharging, and all-wheel-drive. Leffingwell also tells the story of the 911 community—the clubs and culture that surround the car. Together, all of these facets make Porsche 911: 50 Years the most essential book in any Porsche fan’s library./div
