Let’s Write offers a wealth of suggestions for approaches to developing primary school pupils’ writing skills that will capture the children’s interest, while enabling them to improve their ability to express themselves in writing. It aims to meet the requirements of the new national curriculum for English at KS2 in a way that will develop the children’s standard of writing by presenting activities that they will find enjoyable and stimulating. Throughout the book, the emphasis is on providing activities that will engage the pupils in a discussion of how texts are structured, before producing their own writing. John Foster suggests a range of imaginative tasks that both literacy specialists and non-specialists will find useful in developing children’ ability to write coherently and correctly. Let’s Write includes: a clear explanation of the writing process with activities designed to improve pupils’ drafting skills examples of the different types of writing for pupils to analyse, which they can use as models for their own writing a range of imaginative ideas for writing tasks, together with suggestions of curriculum opportunities for practising particular forms writing challenges which can be used to stretch more able writers and thus to introduce differentiation by task, as well as by outcome writing tips, for example, on sentence structure and paragraph structure, appropriate to the different types of writing activities involving pupils in the assessment of their writing a section on writing correctly, focussing on grammar, spelling and punctuation a section containing games and activities designed to extend pupils’ vocabulary. Let’s Write provides teachers with a lively collection of resources that will be welcomed by teachers and that will help to develop children’s writing.

Reading and writing are the most important skills a child acquires during his or her lifetime--and it all begins in the early childhood classroom, where creative play, discovery and time to explore are at the heart of a developmentally appropriate and child-centered curriculum. Striking a balance between these often competing priorities can challenge even the most experienced educator.

While similar in method to the "activity-based learning" introduced in the first set of books, Urdu for Children: Book II is designed to meet the needs of children seven to eight years of age and older. The students' level is determined by their facility in reading, writing, and speaking Urdu rather than their chronological age. The scope of the topics in Book II is wider than in Book I and the forty stories and poems, most of them original, are more complex and longer. The original artwork is richer and more varied and the English-Urdu and Urdu-English vocabulary lists are more comprehensive. Two volumes of Let's Read Urdu have been added to help children enhance their reading skills while a two-part Workbook provides practice exercises in writing and reinforces the new vocabulary introduced in the texts. The activity-based Teacher's Manual provides detailed lesson plans for each Urdu text. Two CDs accompanying the two volumes of the textbook to help ensure standard pronunciation of words and intonations in sentences, and infuse life into the stories. Original music was composed for the poems, allowing children to sing them to help with memorization. Developed by a team of trained public school teachers with extensive backgrounds in teaching Urdu as a heritage language, the Urdu Language Textbook Series helps meet the needs of a rapidly growing Urdu-speaking community in North America. It is the first step towards helping children develop Urdu linguistic skills so that they can keep their heritage and culture alive.

Now is the time to write your thesis manuscript. For me, this was the most complicated part of my doctoral journey. How did I get there without too much trouble? Thanks to good editorial planning ! That's why I created this planner, based on my own experiences. It only takes 30 hours to complete this planner and 50% of your writing work will be done. I'm not telling you that you will get there without difficulty. But what is certain, this drafting step will be less painful than usual. The principle is simple. Instead of telling you how to do it, I do it with you, step by step. Who is this planner primarily dedicated to ? - To those who have already started their writing but, for some time, procrastinate, stress and swim in place - To those who plan to start writing in the short term How does it work ? In this notebook, you and I will plan the writing of the main blocks of your thesis, i.e. around twenty compulsory sections, such as: preface, table of contents, summary, introduction, contributions, conclusion, list of sources, appendices , etc. Each block will contain globally: - A definition of its function - A presentation of some examples - A list of the main good practices - And your task will be to fill in the blank lines in order to have your first version of each block In the empty lines, you will define: the logical sequence of the contents, the ideas that absolutely must not be forgotten to develop there, the images and bibliographical references not to be forgotten, etc ... At each stage, I'll tell you exactly what to put in the lines to fill out. And then ? Once this work is done, you will just have to follow what is written in the planner until the complete writing of your first manuscript version. This first version will serve as a base that will subsequently have to be improved iteratively with your thesis directors. You are not a doctoral student ? If you know one, know that this planner is one of the best gifts you can give him. Good luck and congratulations dear Dr.
