There are many fantastic books on how to write. There are also a lot of great workbooks on how to write a great essay. The problem that most of these books share is that they don't provide feedback. Sure, an adult can check the work, but in most cases that adult is not a teacher and really has no idea how to properly grade an essay. I have attempted to provide two solutions to that problem in this workbook. First, I have provided at least two genuine student examples for each assignment. Every chapter has a student created writing response that has been graded and evaluated. While this is a not as good as direct, teacher feedback, it at least gives a guideline to what is expected. Second, an email has been provided at the end of this book, where you can send one of your assignments for evaluation, and you will receive direct feedback on your work. The articles in this book are all original. Each have something to do with the school life of a student. It's my hope that students will be more engaged with - and more likely to complete - the book because it covers topics they care about. The references mentioned in the ten articles are all listed in the back of the book. If your student seems especially interested in one of the topics, please encourage them to follow the links in this book to learn more. The writing lessons in this book were chosen based on the mistakes that most of my students make. If students can conquer the 10 lessons in this book, they will be able to write very good essays. The lessons are simple and easy to understand. My goal is that they will turn a student into a good writer, capable of getting high marks. Each lesson builds on the lesson before it. The lessons and techniques taught in this book are not creative or complex. The entire goal of this book is to get students to write well organized essays, with simple ideas that can be supported by well developed details. If you are in the market for a creative writing workbook, you have come to the wrong place. This workbook teaches a strict structure that aims to shut down creative writing. Sound terrible? There is a time and a place for creative writing. The time and place for creative writing is not on a state test. During the state test, you want your student using a tried and true method. Yes, perhaps even a boring method. Why? If your goal is for your student to express themselves, regardless of the score they receive, please return this book now. You can have your money back. However, if you would like your student to get a high score on a state test that will allow them to go to a great school that may allow your student to be creative, brilliant, and amazing, then finish this book. The hamburger method of writing may not be fun. It may not be very original. It is certainly not creative. However, the hamburger method is well organized. It is structured to perfection. The great people who grade these essays love the hamburger method. Why? It's well organized, well structured, and easy to grade.

The Book of Happiness kicks off with a Happiness Questionnaire to give you an instant snapshot of your current state of mind. Once you have scored yourself, you will learn the areas you need to focus on. There is a workbook to complete at each key stage, as well as stirring anecdotes, tips and happy thoughts to keep you going. Communicating effectively in a foreign language requires a level of understanding that goes far beyond the learning of vocabulary and grammar. Textbook English is seldom the language of the workplace. Apparently familiar words and phrases may both amuse and confuse the learner when used in different contexts. Nowhere is this more evident than in the field of healthcare. The Arakelian Programme introduces international nurses to the culture of the health service in the United Kingdom. Catharine Arakelian has demonstrated tremendous insight into the development of communication and language skills. Her approach makes learning English a fun experience. The exercises encourage good listening and observation skills, essential elements of mastering a foreign language.
