For most of his life, author Terry Gordon found expressing his thoughts and feelings almost impossible. It could have been because of a lack of self-confidence or simply because no one was there to listen. This was where author Terry Gordon found himself after his mother died when he was twelve. In his book, Every Day’s a Good Day, Gordon shares his struggle to survive. When a note Gordon wrote—expressing that he could no longer cope in the world anymore—flew from his shirt pocket just as a gentle breeze passed over, he took it as a sign that prevented him from stepping in front of a train. He was only thirteen. Life doesn’t automatically get better when you write things down, but it’s a way to get a grasp on those events that trigger your depression and even rage. To receive love, respect, and understanding, you must first give the same. This memoir tells how one person overcame a life of adversity and despair to become better person. Despite what seems like hopelessness, there is a reason to go on.

Great Day Every Day

Each day emerges from God's drawing room. Including this one. So I decided to give the day a chance, change my view, and imitate the resolve of the psalmist: “I will rejoice and be glad in it.” Oops, another word we'd like to edit: in.

The alarm clock rings in a new day and a chance to rejoice in it. After all: "This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it." But what about those days when the traffic snarls, airports close, and friends forget? Is there any hope for the days riddled with the hang-ups and bang-ups of life? In Great Day Every Day Max Lucado unpacks Jesus' blueprint for dealing with such days: Saturate your day in Jesus' grace. Entrust your day to His oversight. Accept His direction. It's the only prescription to fill your day with God-given purpose. When you find the divine promise of each day, you can face whatever it brings. Speed bumps and speeding tickets won’t derail you. Hiccups and hard times don’t have to ruin your day. In fact those days can become great days. Whatever you face, you can have a great day every day. This daily devotional book has been a God-led inspiration from its very start-up; from its original Bible verse and note of encouragement to some coworkers and family members to people around the world via my email network. Our God is so awesome! I've had people return emails to me or speak to me and ask, "How did you know that I needed that today?" or "How did you know I was going through this?" That is when I thankfully remind them that God inspired each and every one of these devotionals. I am just being faithful and following His directions. Now I'm led to put them into a year of daily devotions book to reach others. Occasionally, my emailed devotionals have colored photographs that I take as God inspired message for the day. Unfortunately, I couldn't include those in this book. I did include a photo in grayscale at the beginning of each month; the cover photo is a God-blessed look at an Alaskan sunset. I am so thankful that God is working in my life. I want to encourage each of you to grasp hold of whatever gift He has blessed you with and step out in trust and faith to go forth and to share it with others. When you feel down, just start counting each of the blessings God has touched you with in your life; and you will feel His Presence and comfort to encourage you. We are never alone; He is just a prayer away; nothing is impossible for our God. He is not done with us yet. He is asking us to be obedient in our service to Him, and He will help us grow in our faith. Trust in Him, and you will be astounded at what He has in store for you.

This work did not begin as a book. God often speaks to me in the night watches. He began to wake me in the mornings with “Good morning, this is God.” The first time, I was astounded when He spoke into my heart an encouragement for the day, along with directions. I jotted them down. After several of these, I went back and wrote my thoughts. Then I decided to add a space for the readers thoughts and a short prayer. These visitations became this book.

An exquisitely romantic debut novel that captures the longing of lost—and sometimes found—love It is the mid-1960s in a small seaside town in Croatia. Two children, Luka and Dora, meet on their first day of kindergarten. Luka faints the first time he sees Dora and she wakes him with a kiss. The two become inseparable. Over the next few years, they wander the shores of their town, lying on their special rock by the sea as Luka paints—until Dora’s parents move to Paris. Bereft, Luka becomes a solitary young man, prey to the needs of his family, but a promising painter. In Paris, Dora blossoms and becomes a successful actress. When Luka comes to Paris for a show of his paintings, a chance encounter brings them together. Now adults, they fall back in love, and their feelings are given resonance by a shared adoration of Pablo Neruda. Timing and fate, however, seem determined to keep them apart. Like The Solitude of Prime Numbers and One Day, Nataša Dragnic’s Every Day, Every Hour is a haunting tale of star-crossed love that will utterly entrance readers with the rhythmic beauty of its language and ineffable air of expectation and heartache.

“Free will, Mike. That’s one thing I can never change. The one gift I gave mankind that separates them from all other creatures. I could never make you love or believe in me. You did that on your own. If you hadn’t, I wouldn’t be sitting here today. Mike, I made you. I knew how you would be. The only thing I wasn’t sure of was whether or not we would spend eternity together.” In two weeks, Mike will turn seventy-five. He’s been married to his true love, Emma, for almost fifty of those years. He’s not perfect. He’s made plenty of mistakes. The one thing about Mike that is beyond reproach is his devotion. He’s always been a true Southern Baptist and believer in a loving God. For his big birthday, God has something special planned for Mike and Emma.
