The Labangon Fencing Association, the most seasoned recorded Philippine Martial Arts relationship of its sort in the nation, was coordinated by Lorenzo Saavedra in Labangon, Cebu in 1920.The Labangon Association assumed a significant part in spreading and creating Eskrima in the Philippines and the world when all is said in done. Initially, the 'Labangon Fencing Club' was one of the first principal Escrima schools in Cebu during the 1920s.The family Saavedra, particularly Lorenzo alongside his nephews, Frederico and Teodoro Saavedra, and their more established siblings were the significant power and impact of the affiliation. Anciong was an understudy of Saavedra and was a dear companion also.During the Second World War, the Saavedra's were everything except killed by the Japanese. Following the war, the Escrima school was the exact opposite thing the leftover Saavedra's could even consider. Anciong, a teacher of Saavedra's old fashioned, chose to begin his club. Anciong instructed and kept up the sober and old methods he learned as an understudy.

Modern Arnis, the Filipino art of self-defense, was the brain child of Grand Master Remy A. Presas. From 1957 to 2001, he spread the art from its humble beginnings in Bacalod City in the Philippines to being an internationally known martial art.
